Important Information

Throughout the year the respective clubs have priority over the use of the clubhouse:

  • Cricket season: April to September
  • Hockey season: September to April

Occasionally club social events are not confirmed until fixtures are out, so please do enquire before assuming that the clubhouse is free.

Booking Costs

Good news for club members: The clubhouse is free for use for either club, so any club organised events, meetings or socials will not incur any hire costs.

However for personal (i.e., birthday parties) or external bookings there is a fee to be made via donation to the Sports Club. An invoice will be generated and sent to the requestor, this can then be paid directly via BACS, cheque ("Chelmsford Sports Club") or cash, provided to a Sports Club official, although BACS payment is preferred.

Session Pricing

Morning Session (9am - 1pm) £40
Afternoon Session (1pm - 6pm) £40
Evening Session (6pm - Close) £60
Multiple sessions same day discount £20 off
Club member charity events 50% discount

Multi-day quotes are available on request.

Bar Management: If you are a club member and require the bar to be open, then it is the requestor's responsibility to manage the bar. Others will be available to open it and to set it up, as well as closing up afterwards if required. But for external bookings volunteers from the Sports Club will man the bar if required.

Terms & Responsibilities

Cleaning

After your event has finished you are expected to clean and tidy the clubhouse and bar (i.e. hoover and take away rubbish, if large volumes), as well as returning any furniture that has been moved to the original positions.

Responsible Person

During the event there needs to be a recognised person who is responsible for the running of the event and ensuring the clubhouse and bar are not mistreated.

Usage of the Bar

Please remember that if you require the bar to be open then you (the requestor) are responsible for providing someone to run the bar for the duration of your event. These people need to be at least 18 years old and have received the bar/till induction/training.

Licensing Information

Temporary Event Notice (Late Licence)

Usual clubhouse/bar licensed opening hours are:

  • Monday to Saturday: 11am - 11pm
  • Sunday: 12pm - 10:30pm

It is possible to request extensions to these times but you need to request (and have approved) a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) from the City Council. More details about the TEN can be found here: Chelmsford City Council - Temporary Event Notices. This is the responsibility of the requestor to organise, as well as to cover the cost of the licence (£21).
